"Mount Lafayette, NH," framed 16x20 inch watercolor and ink painting on paper

Price
$ 1,100

This is Mount Lafayette, star of the Franconia Ridge, as seen from the Appalachian Mountain Club's Greenleaf Hut. Picture yourself looking out over the ridge on the greenest of June days when spring still had an edge of chill to it, but the deciduous trees were sending out pale green growth regardless. Be transported to the mountains.

The ridge and loop trails are currently the site of a huge trail restoration project that combines the efforts of many area recreation and conservation organizations. The Old Bridal Path, Franconia Ridge Trail and Falling Waters Trail loop is one of the busiest in the region, with up to 1,000 hikers per day in peak season. After decades of use, the restoration project seeks to heal this overused route and make it more sustainable by guiding hikers on the trail so they avoid trampling fragile ecosystems like the alpine zone found high on the ridge.
