"Mount Starr King and Mount Waumbek," one of my miniature map paintings. These small watercolor paintings are tiny artworks of my favorite trails in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, home of some of the Northeast's best hiking!

Regular price $ 25.00 $ 0.00
Another strange pairing of peaks. Starr King is named for an American Universalist and Unitarian minister who started out preaching in Boston and ended up in California. Waumbek is said to be a word of Algonquin origin meaning "white rock". Starr King wrote of the name in his famous book "The White Hills," noting how musical the word sounded and gently complaining that none of the hotels in the area had employed it in their names.
