A relatively short hike up out of Franconia Notch in New Hampshire's White Mountains brings you to a gorgeous mountain lake, with the peaks of Mounts Lincoln, Lafayette and its neighbors shining above and reflected in the water below. On the edge of the lake is the delightfully quirky Lonesome Lake Hut, built in the shape of a hexagon, with bunkhouses nearby. In summer you are surrounded by greenery.
I painted this watercolor of Lonesome Lake Hut as part of a series of all eight AMC huts, and it is now the last original painting available from that group.
