Cairns are some of my favorite trail features. They lead the way above treeline, sometimes look like figures or strange creatures in the fog, and stand out against the mountain landscape. This small, low cairn was a little less conspicuous, but helpful nonetheless as I followed the long loop of the Baldface Circle Trail in the White Mountain National Forest.
