"January Thaw" is a 20 by 30 inch oil on canvas painting by Rebecca M. Fullerton, depicting a classic northeastern village in winter. A road runs down into the town where clapboard houses flank a white church with its steeple. Signs of a warm spell are evident as patches of bare ground show up and the paved road is melting out.

A mid-winter scene of warm sun on a quiet Northeast village street. This classic scene with a white church steeple, houses and shops remains all over the Northeast, though it seems like a thing of bygone days. In winter we tend to get what's known as January Thaw each year. In the depths of winter a few warm days will spring up, giving us all a good dose of sunlight and memories of warm weather days. It won't last, but how nice it is to see the village in sunlight.
