Iconic. That is how many describe the hike over the Franconia Ridge in New Hampshire's White Mountains. It is one of the most popular loops; and for good reason. To be above treeline on a knife-edge ridge looking out over millions of acres of forest and mountains is truly something special. You can see the trail as it winds along ahead of you, leading to the next peak and ever-expanding views. I captured just a bit of this trail, looking up toward mighty Mount Lafayette, after a fall hike over the ridge.
