I hiked up the Jewell Trail to the summit of Mount Washington and down the Crawford Path on a hot, late summer day to capture this breathtaking scene, stopping to soak in the view of alpine plants, rocks, and stunted trees lining the far shore. The shockingly cold water of the lake is a reminder of the ruggedness of this mountain environment, but the water's glassy surface lulls you into a sense of peace.
