Commissioned Art

Would you like to commission a special White Mountains landscape painting by Rebecca M. Fullerton, Artist? Here are the basics of how the process works:

Things to consider when commissioning work:

  • Do you have a particular peak, valley, or vista in mind?
  • Do you have a great photo reference or would you like me to visit the spot you want painted to gain my own inspiration?
  • Are you drawn to a specific season (autumn foliage, winter snow, spring wildflowers)?

Your vision for the mood of the painting:

  • Check out my other paintings. Which ones speak to you and why?
  • Do you envision a wide-open vista or a more intimate forest scene?
  • Are you interested in capturing a bright, clear day, or do you love a moody, stormy one?
  • Are there any particular colors you want to see?

Size, Scale and Price:

  • Consider the size and scale of the painting in relation to the space where it will be displayed.
  • What size painting are you looking for? Keep in mind that I generally charge $5.50 per square inch on commissioned work.
  • Would you like the work to be framed before it is delivered or do you plan on framing it yourself to your tastes?

Agreement & Contract: What we work out before the project begins:

  • Scope of Work: Size, materials, subject matter, and style of the painting.
  • Timeline: Estimated completion date, with potential for flexibility (paintings generally average 6 weeks to complete but may take longer depending on size and complexity).
  • Price and Payment Schedule: Deposit (a 50% deposit is required) and final payment.
  • Approval Process: How you will review and provide feedback during the painting process.
  • Ownership and Copyright: Clarify ownership and any licensing agreements.
  • Written Agreement: We will both sign a written contract outlining all the agreed-upon terms.

As the Painting is Rolling Along, I like to:

  • Maintain Open Communication: I will keep in touch with you throughout the project to send progress shots and update you on any expected completion date changes.
  • Get Your Constructive Feedback: Share your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly with me if you want to suggest any changes.
  • Trust the Process: Allow me the creative freedom and time necessary to bring your vision to life.

Delivery & Installation

  • Arrange for Delivery: We will discuss shipping or transportation options.
  • Final Inspection: You will be able to inspect the painting upon delivery to ensure it meets your expectations.

Payment & Completion

  • Make Final Payment: Once you have approved the final painting, make the final payment as outlined in the contract.
  • Enjoy Your Artwork: Hang your beautiful White Mountains landscape painting and admire the beauty of the region.

Important Notes:

  • My Artistic Style: Be sure to familiarize yourself with my unique style and approach to landscape painting.
  • Availability: Check with me about my availability for commissions way farther ahead than you think you should! Paintings - especially large oil paintings - take time to compose, paint, dry and varnish. Average completion time is six weeks.
  • Enjoy the Process: Commissioning a painting should be an exciting and fulfilling experience.

By following these guidelines, we can work together to make your vision for the perfect White Mountains landscape painting become a reality.
