Coffin Pond is a pretty special place. It is dotted with islands and the mountains rise up in the background. It is especially beautiful in autumn evening light, which is when I painted this while on an outing with two other painter friends. We'd wandered around Franconia earlier in the day and finally landed here, looking out over the glassy water and beautiful foliage surrounding the pond. A perfect fall scene.
