I hiked up the Caps Ridge Trail one early morning by myself and spent hours exploring the trails around the summit and lounging on rocks in the sun. One of the best parts was emerging from the trees to look out over the valleys and seeing a thick layer of clouds lying low over the landscape below. Huge deadfall trees poked up out of the foreground forest and the sun shined down from a perfect blue sky. I had to capture the day in painting form after such a marvelous hike.
