I've been told Lion Head really does look like a lion from some angle, though I've still never seen it do so! I started this painting during filming of a segment for New Hampshire Chronicle, and it went surprisingly well with an audience! I kept the painting fresh and loose in the field, and it retained the light and sparkle I wanted even after working on it a bit more in the studio. The peak stands out while Tuckerman Ravine recedes a bit into the background. It was a great day to be out painting from Square Ledge up above Pinkham Notch!
