I started painting this outdoors on the most delicious autumn day on Ammonoosuc Lake. Warm, sunny weather combined with beautiful autumn colors made this one of the best days of the season. King Ravine is a massive glacial cirque on the northern slopes of the Presidential Range. On a chilly day this autumn I stood at the base of the Mount Washington Auto Road and painted this slice of mountain slopes. I painted quickly to capture the clouds as they whisked in and out of the ravines, obscured the mountain altogether, then lifted and flew off. Framed 9x12 inch oil on panel. White Mountains, NH.
